Michael is a 32 year-old darts player who has won 23 PDC titles, including 7 European tour events, 3 world Series events and back to back Majors.

Outside of Darts, Michael is a huge fan of St Helens Rugby League club and a keen fundraiser for St Helen’s Autism trust. He is also a proud father of 2 young sons and a husband to Dagmara.

Michael's Bully Boy nickname comes from his previous employment as a farm hand where he had the job of tagging the new calves. He hopes to retire with enough land to have his own Bull to remind him of his achievements.

Meet Michael Smith

 

Michael ‘Bully Boy’, a professional darts player hailing from St. Helens, England  With his impressive skills and singular dedication to the sport, has become the reigning World Champion and World No. 1 in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events.

Michael has won 26 Titles on the PDC tour and is currently ranked number 1 in the world.. He has proven himself time and time again, The Grand Slam of Darts in 2022 was Mike’s 1st major he went on to beat Nathan Aspinall 16-5 in the final. He followed this up by Winning the World Championship at  Alexandra Palace in Jan 2023 in what’s described by many as the greatest ever game of darts, defeating Michael Van Gerwen 7-4 in the final.

 

When he was a student at Saint Cuthbert's secondary school in St Helens, he fell off his bike and broke his hip. Because of this, he had to use crutches for 16 weeks. While he was still on crutches, he threw his first 180 at a local darts club. This moment sparked a passion for darts that has stayed with him to this day.

He attended college to study joinery but dropped out with one exam left to compete in a darts tournament.  A decision that would change his life forever! 

 

He went on to become a regular winner of local darts events and before making his debut in the PDC major at the 2009 UK Open. 

 

With his incredible talent and determination, Michael continues to inspire and amaze fans all over the world.
